The HUB Waterloo
The University of Waterloo attracts the top students from across the Globe to Waterloo. Serving as a central community-in-a-community, Accommod8u's The Hub is an eight building project located within walking distance of the main campus, restaurants, and other student-focused businesses.
For this premiere project, our team provided full plumbing and HVAC systems including a geothermal system used for heating and cooling. Designed with yearly convenience in mind, there is a major snow melt component for all walkways and driveways.
Student housing projects have major time constraints due to university schedules. We were awarded the mechanical contract in December 2016 and achieved substantial completion in August 2017. Pressure? We know how to work with it! This schedule gave us the opportunity to introduce new standards for quality control with checks and balances to deliver on time, on budget, and with the quality that Dean-Lane is known for.
DTK Condominiums
The DTK Condos Kitchener project proves you don’t have to choose between going big and going home. Opening for occupancy in 2022, the 39-storey DTK Condos Kitchener building will be the tallest building in Waterloo Region. The building includes 2 levels of parking underground and 5 above grade. DTK offers 494 residential units in various suite layouts, on the 5th floor you will find a beautiful common terrace space for residents to relax and enjoy the sun!
We provided mechanical systems for the building including a centralized mechanical penthouse with a boiler and chiller system. The building’s heating system is a four-pipe fan coil that includes in suite energy recovery ventilators (ERV).
Charlie West Condominiums
Waterloo Region has seen an explosion in new development since the first shovels went in the ground for the ION rapid transit system. One of the first projects — and second tallest that DLC has been a part of is Charlie West. Situated next to beautiful Victoria Park, the project is a 31 story mixed commercial and residential building. The building is surrounded by restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, and is right across the street from an ION rapid transit station. For this project we installed boiler and chiller plants in the mechanical penthouse along with several mechanical rooms on multiple floors.
Blackstone
Blackstone Condos, fully completed in late 2021 located at 255 Northfield Drive in Waterloo. Located at a prime location at the North end of Waterloo, walking distance to trails, sports fields and shopping at the local farmer’s market. Blackstone consisted of 4 six story buildings, a wide range of suite types plus retail units.
